Find a word and continuously repeat it. You can repeat it aloud or in your mind. The word should be a simple one, like "relax." Continue to breathe regularly with your muscles relaxed.

Another technique you might want to learn is called progressive muscle relaxation. This technique will allow you to relax your whole body. Begin at your head. Then apply pressure to facial muscles. Clench your teeth and wrinkle your brow. Hold this tension for about five to ten seconds, and then release it. Next you want to apply pressure to your arm muscles. To do this, make fists and hold them for five or ten seconds, and then release. Continue to do this to each group of muscles in your body until you make it all the way down to your toes. Visualize as you release each muscle.

You could also try visualization techniques. This is no doubt an excellent way to mentally take a stressful situation. Find some place comfortable to sit or lie down. Do the muscle relaxation technique and clear your mind. Pretend that you are somewhere else. Imagine a place that makes you feel better like beach. Take slow deep breaths until you feel relaxed. Focus on all five of your senses. Imagine what you can see, feel, taste, hear, and smell. Continue to do all of this for five or ten minutes. After this bring your focus back to the present and end this technique.

Another thing s which can be done is to make a note of stress in a notebook. This can help you to deal with frustrations. By maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regime, you will be better equipped to manage your stress. It can also help you to manage your time more effectively. Make good schedules and to-do lists. You should also get out and socialize more. This will help you to relax. If nothing works out the only alternative is to go for a therapy.

Which is the Most Effective Technique to Manage Stress?

The most effective stress reduction techniques can vary drastically from person to person. What is right for one person may not necessarily be right for you. You may have to practice each one until you get it right. But one good thing that everyone can do to manage stress better is have a well-balanced diet and exercise. Doing this and managing your time will give you a better way to manage your stress.

Are There Any Natural Methods to Relieve Stress?

There are several natural methods of relieving stress that you may want to try. Some studies have shown that listening to the sounds of nature can have a very calming, relaxing effect on you. You could go out and purchase CD containing pictures of nature. When you see this or hear the relevant sounds if it is an Audio CD you will feel relaxed to a great manner. You could always try aromatherapy or reflexology. There have been proven studies that have shown that certain smells relax and calm us. That smell is different for everyone and you may have to play around with a few until you find the one that works for you. Reflexology is a massage technique and if mastered, can be extremely relaxing.

Taking a yoga class or meditating can help you learn how to relieve your stress and calm down. Volunteering or doing something nice for someone can also relive stress instantaneously. You release endorphins which makes you feel good about yourself. This helps you to fight stress in a natural manner. Enjoy some leisurely exercise. You cam take a ride to the park. Similarly you can stroll in the woods. This will help you in reducing stress easily.

Whichever stress management techniques you employ, the important thing is to find one that works for you. Try all the stress relief techniques which you think might work for you and continue with the one that actually does. You will feel better.
